Combine contracts, invoices, scanned pages or chapters into a single PDF. Drop the files, use the arrows to put them in order, and merge. Pages are copied as they are (no re-rendering), so text stays selectable, links keep working and quality is identical to the originals. Nothing is sent to a server, which matters for anything confidential.

What is Merge PDF?

Our merge pdf tool joins two or more PDF files into a single document, in the order you choose. Drop the files, arrange them with the up and down arrows, name the result and download one combined PDF.

It fixes a common nuisance: application portals, clients and print shops often accept only one file, while your paperwork arrives as separate PDFs. Contracts and their appendices, monthly invoices, scanned chapters or a CV with its cover letter can all be combined into one tidy document without retyping, rescanning or reprinting anything.

How to merge PDF

  1. Drop two or more PDF files.
  2. Use the ↑ ↓ arrows to put them in order.
  3. Click Merge PDFs and download the combined file.

How Merge PDF works

A PDF is made of objects: pages, fonts, images and the instructions that place them. Each page points to the resources it needs. Merging properly means copying each page together with everything it depends on into a new document, then writing a fresh page tree in the order you set.

That is what happens here. The tool uses an open-source PDF library to copy pages object by object, rather than printing or re-rendering them. Text stays as real text you can select and search, vector graphics stay sharp at any zoom, embedded photos keep their original compression, and internal links keep working.

Because nothing is rasterised, the merged file is roughly the sum of the inputs, and quality is identical to the originals. The finished PDF is saved with compact object streams. All of this runs in your browser's memory, so large documents never travel over the internet.

Key features of Merge PDF

Free, with no file cap per merge

Combine as many PDFs as your device can hold in one merge, with no page limit and no watermark stamped across your pages. You can also name the output file before you download it.

Lossless page copying

Pages are copied exactly as they are, not re-rendered. Fonts, vector drawings, form layouts and photos keep their original quality, text stays selectable and searchable, and links inside the pages continue to work.

Merged in seconds

No file travels to a server, so even long reports join quickly. Hundreds of pages are fine on a laptop, and the only limit on speed is your own device's memory and processor.

Desktop, tablet and phone

Works in Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox on Windows, macOS, Linux, iPhone, iPad and Android. Pick PDFs from the Files app or a folder, reorder them and save the result locally.

Reorder with keyboard arrows

The up and down buttons that set file order are labelled and keyboard operable, so you never need to drag with a mouse. Progress is announced to screen readers, and there is no time limit.

Contracts stay confidential

Merging happens in your browser, so signed agreements, medical records and financial statements never leave your device. You can check the network tab, and the tool keeps working offline once the page has loaded.

What makes EZ Compress's Merge PDF different

1

No re-rendering, no blur

Some tools flatten each page into an image when they combine PDF files, which makes text unselectable and blurry when zoomed. Pages here are copied as objects, so the merged file looks and behaves exactly like the originals.

2

Sensitive files stay with you

A typical PDF merger sends your documents to a server. This one keeps them in your browser tab from start to finish, which matters for anything with signatures, ID numbers or account details.

3

Clear, simple ordering

Arrow buttons move each file up or down the list, so the final order is obvious before you merge. You can also set the output file name instead of getting a generic download.

Why use Merge PDF?

Use it when someone asks for one file. A job application might need a cover letter, CV and certificates as a single PDF; an accountant may want a year of statements in one document; a print shop might need all chapters joined. Merging takes a minute and keeps everything in the right order.

It is also tidier for your own records. Join a contract with its schedules, or merge pdf files from a scanner that saves each page separately. If you need to join PDF documents with photos, convert the photos first with JPG to PDF, and if the combined result is too large, run it through Compress PDF.

Who can use Merge PDF?

Job applicants

Combine a cover letter, CV, references and certificates into one PDF for recruitment portals that accept just a single upload.

Accountants and bookkeepers

Join a client's monthly bank statements, invoices or receipts into one annual PDF for tax returns and audits, without financial data leaving your computer.

Lawyers and paralegals

Assemble a contract with its exhibits and schedules, or build a document bundle for court, keeping every page's text searchable.

Teachers

Put worksheets, answer keys and reading material together into one handout PDF for a class, a substitute teacher or a parent email.

Authors and self-publishers

Merge chapters exported separately from a writing app into one manuscript PDF for proofreading, beta readers, an editor or a print shop.

Merge PDF: frequently asked questions

How do I merge PDF files?
Drop two or more PDFs, use the up and down arrows to put them in order, optionally change the output name, then click Merge PDFs. Your combined file downloads straight away.
Is there a limit on files or pages?
Not on files or pages, and each merge uses one free daily run. Merging happens in your device memory, so hundreds of pages are fine on a laptop. Very large scanned PDFs may be slower on older phones.
Does merging reduce quality?
No. Pages are copied without re-rendering, so text, vector graphics and images are untouched. The text stays selectable and searchable, and the pages look identical to the originals.
Can I merge images with PDFs?
Not directly, because this tool accepts PDFs only. Convert the images first with JPG to PDF, then merge the resulting PDF with the others in the order you want.
Can I merge password-protected PDFs?
No. Encrypted PDFs cannot be combined. Open the file in your PDF reader with its password, save or print it as a new unprotected PDF, then merge that copy.
The merged file is too big. What can I do?
The merged PDF is roughly the size of all the inputs added together. Run it through Compress PDF afterwards to recompress the images inside it.
Can I combine PDF files on my phone?
Yes. Open the page on iPhone or Android, tap the drop area, choose the PDFs from Files or Downloads, set the order and tap Merge PDFs. The result is saved on your phone.
The merged file is too big?
Run it through Compress PDF afterwards.
