Slide decks are mostly images, and PowerPoint keeps them at full camera resolution even when they appear as thumbnails. This tool recompresses the pictures inside your .pptx at a resolution that still looks sharp on a projector, then re-packs the file. Animations, notes, layouts and fonts stay exactly as they were.
What is Compress PPT?
Our compress PPT tool shrinks PowerPoint presentations (.pptx) by recompressing the pictures on your slides, often cutting the file by 40–80%. Decks are mostly images, and PowerPoint keeps them at full camera resolution even when a photo appears as a small thumbnail on a slide.
Drop the PPTX and get back the same presentation with lighter images, ready to email, upload or present from a USB stick. Animations, transitions, speaker notes, layouts and fonts stay exactly as they were, and the file still opens in PowerPoint, Keynote, Google Slides and LibreOffice Impress.
How to compress ppt
- Drop one or more PPTX files.
- Pick Balanced, or Strong for the smallest file.
- Download the smaller PPTX. It opens in PowerPoint, Google and LibreOffice as before.
How Compress PPT works
A projector or meeting screen usually shows 1920×1080 pixels at most, and a photo that fills half a slide uses less than half of that. Yet a modern phone photo is around 4000×3000 pixels. Every image you drop onto a slide may be storing four to eight times more pixels than anyone will ever see.
Like other Office files, a .pptx is a ZIP archive. Pictures live in a media folder, separate from the slide XML. This tool opens the archive in your browser and resizes oversized pictures: up to 2400 px on Light for full-screen photography, 1600 px on Balanced for typical decks, and 1100 px on Strong for decks that will only be emailed or viewed on laptops.
Photos are re-encoded as JPEG, PNG graphics are palette-reduced with transparency kept, and the whole package is re-zipped with maximum compression. Videos and audio embedded in slides are not changed.
Key features of Compress PPT
Free deck compression
Compress PowerPoint pitch decks, lecture slides and training presentations at no cost, with no sign-in and no branding added to your slides. Several decks can be compressed in one batch and saved as a ZIP.
Animations and notes kept
Only the pictures inside the PPTX are changed. Slide layouts, animations, transitions, speaker notes and embedded fonts stay as they were, so the presentation runs exactly as you rehearsed it.
No server round trip
Large decks are compressed on your own device, so you skip sending 100 MB to a website and downloading it again. Most decks are done in seconds, depending on the number of images.
Laptop, tablet or phone
Compress a deck on Windows, macOS, Linux, iPad, iPhone or Android in current Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox. The result opens in PowerPoint, Keynote, Google Slides and LibreOffice without conversion.
Keyboard-friendly level picker
Choose Light, Balanced or Strong with the arrow keys or a click. Controls are labelled for screen readers, progress is announced, and the page works with browser zoom and dark mode.
Pitch decks stay confidential
Investor decks, unreleased product slides and client proposals are processed in your browser and never leave your computer. No copy of your strategy, figures or product roadmap ever sits on a third-party server.
What makes EZ Compress's Compress PPT different
Projector-aware levels
The three levels are tuned to how slides are shown: Light keeps enough for full-screen photos on large displays, Balanced suits most meeting rooms, and Strong is for email and laptop viewing.
Still an editable PPTX
Some services convert decks to PDF to make them smaller. This one keeps a fully editable PowerPoint file, so you can keep tweaking slides, notes and timings after compression, right up to the talk.
Media and fonts untouched
Embedded videos, audio and fonts are left alone, so nothing breaks when you present. Only JPEG and PNG pictures are resized and re-encoded, and only when that makes them meaningfully smaller.
Why use Compress PPT?
Heavy decks are slow to open, painful to email and sometimes rejected by event or learning platforms. A pptx compressor fixes that without rebuilding slides. If you need to compress PPTX files before a conference upload or reduce PowerPoint file size so a deck fits in an email, drop it here.
People still search to compress PPT files out of habit, and older .ppt decks are common. Save those as PPTX first, then compress. The smaller file also opens faster on the presenting laptop, which is one less thing to worry about before you speak.
Who can use Compress PPT?
Founders
Shrink investor pitch decks so they attach to emails and data rooms easily, without sending confidential slides to an online service.
Lecturers
Compress image-heavy lecture slides before uploading them to the course platform, so students can download them quickly on mobile data.
Sales teams
Make product presentations small enough to email to prospects and open quickly on their laptops, while photos still look sharp.
Conference speakers
Meet the upload limit for speaker decks set by event organisers, keeping animations, builds and speaker notes intact for the talk itself.
Trainers
Reduce workshop and onboarding decks so they fit shared drives and learning systems, with screenshots still clear on a projector.
