Drag to crop, lock a ratio for social media or print, or type exact pixel coordinates. The crop is applied on your device and exported in the original format at full resolution.
What is Crop Image?
Our crop image tool trims a picture down to just the part you want, either by dragging a box freely, by locking a common ratio such as 1:1 or 16:9, or by typing exact pixel coordinates. The cropped result keeps the original resolution and downloads as JPG, PNG or WEBP.
Cropping removes distractions, fixes awkward framing and reshapes an image for a specific slot, such as a square profile, a widescreen banner or a 3:4 product photo. It is often the first edit to make before resizing, because it decides what stays in the picture.
How to crop image
- Drop an image.
- Drag the crop box, or choose a ratio.
- Download the cropped image.
How Crop Image works
Cropping is the simplest image edit: it keeps a rectangle of the original pixels and discards the rest. No resampling is involved, so every pixel you keep is the same as before. That is different from resizing, which changes how many pixels describe the scene.
An aspect ratio is the width divided by the height. Locking it means you can make the crop box bigger or smaller, but its shape stays fixed. Common choices have practical roots: 3:2 comes from 35 mm film, 4:3 from classic screens and compact cameras, 16:9 from widescreen video, and 9:16 is that frame turned upright for phone stories.
The X and Y fields show where the top-left corner of the crop sits, measured in pixels from the top-left of the image, and Width and Height give its size. All of it runs in your browser using a cropping library that loads once.
Key features of Crop Image
Free cropping, no watermark
Crop images for free, without paying or getting a watermark. Rotate, flip or reset before you download, and start again with a new image whenever you want.
Type exact pixel values
Set X, Y, Width and Height in pixels to crop precisely, for example a 1200×800 area starting 150 pixels from the left. The fields update live as you drag, so you always know the exact size.
Instant, on-device crop
The crop is calculated on your device the moment you click Download. Nothing goes to a server, so even large photos are ready in about a second on a modern phone or computer.
Touch-friendly on mobile
Drag the handles with a finger on iPhone, iPad or Android, or with a mouse on Windows, macOS and Linux. The editor scales to the screen and works in all current major browsers.
Accessible ratio and size controls
Ratio buttons, coordinate fields and format choices are labelled and reachable by keyboard, so you can set an exact crop without dragging at all. Dark mode, zoom and screen reader progress updates are supported.
Images stay on your computer
The picture is cropped inside the browser tab and never sent to a server. Only the cropping library itself is downloaded when the page loads, which you can confirm in the network tab.
What makes EZ Compress's Crop Image different
Eight ratios plus free-form
Lock the crop to 1:1, 4:3, 3:4, 16:9, 9:16, 3:2 or 2:3, or leave it free. Most quick croppers offer only square and freehand, which leaves you guessing for banners and prints.
Numbers as well as handles
Many crop tools only let you drag. Here you can type pixel coordinates, which is the only reliable way to crop a batch of screenshots identically or hit a size a form demands.
Rotate and flip in the same view
Straighten a sideways photo with the 90° rotate button or mirror it with Flip before cropping, without leaving the page or re-saving in between. Reset undoes everything in one click.
Full-resolution output
The crop is taken from the original pixels, not a reduced preview, so a crop from a 12-megapixel photo keeps all its detail and can still be printed or zoomed.
Why use Crop Image?
A good crop improves almost any photo. Removing empty sky, a stray elbow or a cluttered edge puts the attention on the subject, and choosing the right ratio makes the image fit its destination without the website cropping it badly on your behalf.
Exact pixel cropping is also useful for practical jobs: cutting a single chart out of a screenshot, extracting a signature from a scanned page, or trimming a product photo to the 3:4 frame a marketplace uses. When you crop image files here, you get a clean, full-resolution result without installing an editor.
Who can use Crop Image?
Online sellers
Crop product photos to the same square or 3:4 frame so listings line up neatly and the item fills the thumbnail.
Students
Cut one diagram or table out of a screenshot of lecture slides to paste into notes or an assignment, without the surrounding clutter.
Office administrators
Trim scanned receipts and ID cards to just the document, removing desk and background, before attaching them to an expense claim.
Photographers
Reframe a shot to 3:2 or 4:5 for printing or posting, and use the coordinate fields to apply an identical crop to several frames.
Web designers
Crop hero images to exactly 16:9 or a specific pixel area so they fit a layout without being stretched or cropped unpredictably by CSS.
