Pull out only the pages a portal asks for, split a scanned bundle into separate documents, or break a long report into chapters. Pages are copied exactly, so text stays selectable and nothing is re-rendered. You get one PDF per range, or a single extracted PDF, and a ZIP if there are several.
What is Split PDF?
Our split pdf tool breaks one PDF into smaller PDFs. By default it saves every page as its own file, and you can also split by custom ranges (such as 1-3, 5, 8-10), cut the document every N pages, or extract only selected pages into one new PDF.
It helps when a document is too long, too big or contains pages someone else should not see. Send only the pages a portal asks for, separate a scanned bundle into individual documents, or break a long report into chapters. When there are several parts, they download together as a ZIP.
How to split PDF
- Drop the PDF.
- Type page ranges like 1-3, 5, 8-10 (or split every N pages, or into single pages).
- Download each part or all of them as a ZIP.
How Split PDF works
Every PDF has a page tree, a list that tells the reader which page objects come in which order. Each page object refers to the fonts, images and drawing instructions it uses. Splitting means building a new, smaller page tree for each part and copying across only the pages and resources that part needs.
That is why splitting done properly is lossless. Pages are not printed, scanned or re-rendered; they are copied as the original objects with an open-source PDF library. Text stays selectable, vector graphics stay sharp and images keep their original compression, so a part never looks worse than the source.
The three modes just decide how pages are grouped. Every page makes one file per page. Ranges makes one file per comma-separated range, or one combined file if you switch on extract. Every N pages makes equal chunks, with a shorter final chunk if needed. It all runs in your browser.
Key features of Split PDF
Free splitting, any length
Split PDFs with no page limit and no watermark. Whether you get two parts or two hundred, everything is bundled into one ZIP download so you are not clicking button after button.
Pages copied exactly
Each part contains the original page objects, not re-rendered images. Text stays selectable, fonts and vectors stay crisp, and photos keep their quality. Ranges beyond the last page are simply ignored.
Split in a second
Nothing is sent to a server, so splitting a long document usually takes a second or two. Even very large reports split quickly because the pages are copied, not redrawn, on your own device.
Works wherever you are
Use it in Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox on Windows, macOS, Linux, iPhone, iPad and Android. On a phone, pick a PDF from Files and save the parts back to your device.
Accessible mode switcher
The split mode switch, range field and pages-per-file box are labelled and keyboard operable. Progress is announced to screen readers, and the layout works with zoom and on small screens.
Sensitive pages kept local
When you split a PDF to remove private pages before sharing, those pages are never sent anywhere. All processing happens inside your browser, which you can confirm in the network tab.
What makes EZCompressor's Split PDF different
Three ways to split
Most tools offer one method. Here you can save every page separately, set your own ranges, or cut every N pages, all from one switch. That covers single-page extraction, chapters and equal batches.
Extract to one PDF
Type pages like 2, 5-6, 9 and switch on Put all ranges in one PDF. You get a single new document with only those pages, which is what most people mean by extract pages from PDF.
No server, no waiting
A typical PDF splitter sends your whole document to its server before cutting it. Here nothing leaves your device, so splitting is instant and private, even for large scanned contracts or medical files.
Why use Split PDF?
Portals often ask for one specific page, such as the signature page of a contract or the first page of a bank statement. Rather than sending the whole file, split pdf documents down to just what is needed. It is quicker to upload, easier for the reader and keeps unrelated personal information out of other people's hands.
Splitting also fixes scanner output. A batch scanned as one long file can be cut into separate documents, and you can separate PDF pages into individual files for filing. If a single PDF is over an email limit, cut PDF chapters into parts and send them in turn, or compress each part afterwards.
Who can use Split PDF?
Applicants and students
Extract only the pages a university or visa portal asks for, such as a transcript's first page, instead of uploading an entire multi-page record.
HR teams
Split a scanned stack of employee forms into one PDF per person for personnel files, without sending those records to an online service.
Lawyers and conveyancers
Pull out signature pages, schedules or specific clauses from long agreements to share with the right party, without exposing the rest of the document.
Teachers and lecturers
Cut a long course pack or scanned reader into chapter PDFs so students download only the reading they need for that week.
Office administrators
Split long scanned batches every N pages, for example every two pages for double-sided forms, to file each document separately.
